Forming of a New Circuit

The outcome of the Extraordinary Circuit Meeting to vote on the forming of a new circuit with Gateshead and Jarrow was held on the 22 July 2010. The vote was carried in favour of forming a new Circuit. This means that both Circuits have voted overwhelmingly in favour of the proposal.

The Steering group will continue to work on the Vision/Mission Statements, and the new structure, and we will seek the approval of Synod in September 2010.

Circuit Prayer Group

A Circuit Prayer Group is planned to meet monthly as from September, with the choice of a morning or an evening session. It will follow what is known as the Lectio Divina approach, which means we will focus on a passage of scripture, usually a gospel narrative and base our prayers around the narrative. Each meeting will last a maximum of one hour and there will be coffee, for those who want.

First meetings are:

Oberammergau Passion Play 2010

2010 seems a long way off but plans need to be made well in advance, hence this preliminary notice.

A suggestion has been made that a party might be organised from this circuit/area to Oberammergau. At present I am exploring possible options and will offer more specific information as it becomes available. If you are vaguely interested it would be helpful if you could let me know.

Rev Leo Osborn and the President of Conference, Rev Martyn Atkins are walking "In the Footsteps of the Saints" from Lindisfarne to Monkwearmouth between 28th October to 4th November. They are being sponsored to raise money for the Methodist Church in Cuba.
Our Superintendent Minister, Judith is doing part of the walk. There are sponsorship forms on church notice boards.
